The wisdom within

Being touched by being human

I watched my 6 year old nephew in a nativity during the week. He was sheep number four. When he caught sight of me in the audience he broke into a huge grin and then continued to wave and give me the thumbs up for the rest of the performance.

As I watched I felt touched by a deep well of love within. It was beautiful to experience this feeling in the moment.  For just a couple of minutes tears trickled down my face as I allowed the emotion to wash through me. It felt very special.

I love moments that remind me of the deep joy of being human. They come at unexpected times and they are accompanied by a feeling of love, peace, expansiveness and/or contentment. At these times I seem to slip through a fissure in my busy thinking to a flowing space of spiritual wisdom.

This place of wisdom and wellness is present for all of us. It underpins our lives and constantly flows whether we are aware of it or not. This is something I share with my clients; it is at the heart of my coaching and training.

At the Coaching Connect event in November Dr Rani Bora, a consultant psychiatrist spoke about this wellness and wisdom. It was so inspiring to hear her talk. Love and compassion are at the core of what Rani brings to her patients and clients. The Three Principles has helped her to realise that patients with mental health issues have incredible wisdom, her role is to point it out to them. You can see her talk on Coaching Connect.

It’s empowering to reflect on this innate health. We have a very different relationship with ourselves and others when we realise that no-one is broken and no-one needs to be fixed. We are just at different stages of remembering or forgetting the wisdom within.
